SonicWeld Rx- the fixation revolution
Conventional fixation of tissues in the craniomaxillofacial skeleton has been accomplished through many techniques. Typical metal implants are not difficult to use, however remain in the patient for life, even when fixation is only required for a matter of weeks.
Current resorbable solutions may be difficult to use, unreliable, or are a source of discomfort for the patient. SonicWeld Rx is a new paradigm shift in fixation. The suture anchor SonicPin is made of a proven non-crystalline resorbable material, anchors a suture quickly, has excellent pull-out strength, and has virtually no profile.
The SonicWeld Rx principle
After drilling a pilot hole with the KLS Martin Battery Operated Drill, the suture is directed over the hole using the forked tip of the pin. With the suture loose, the pin is inserted with ultrasound vibration. During insertion, the outer 0.1mm of the pin flows into the bone structure while the suture is carried 4mm into the hole. The pin returns to a solid. Then the process is complete - creating an anchor that is stronger than typical resorbable threaded screws or push pins.
Simple, effective, strong
