Instead of merely creating products and selling them on the market, we prefer to develop comprehensive problem solutions typically based on user feedback. This practice-minded, “real life” approach guarantees products and services that, due to their high level of innovation, tend to cause quite a stir in the field.
For example, our MicroStop container is considered to be the most innovative container available on the market. It features a completely novel germ retention system (microbial barrier) and – what’s more – spares users any follow-up costs. The container handling as part of the daily hospital routine has also been proved to be excellent. Or let’s take distraction. Here again, KLS Martin is a market and innovation leader. Through ever-new techniques, we have been making significant contributions towards improving the success prospects of surgical interventions in cases of malformation, traumatization or other deformations.
The SonicWeld Rx® system, introduced in Vienna in 2005, is another example. It is no exaggeration to call this system epoch-making – a turning point in osteosynthesis. It uses resorbable pins instead of conventional screws – neither time-consuming predrilling nor tapping is required any more. Stimulated by ultrasound, the pins penetrate directly into the bone structure. By filling all cavities in a three-dimensional process, the pins not only anchor themselves but the plate as well. And as the material is resorbable, no follow-up operation is necessary. This is a decisive advantage, especially for osteosyntheses performed on the growing skulls of children. Besides, the material is perfectly suited also for indications where osteosynthesis was previously not an option.
